Materials

You will need:

  1. Crochet hook 1.5 mm
  2. Fiberfill stuffing
  3. Needle for sewing parts
  4. Glue
  5. PVA glue
  6. Half beads for eyes 6 mm

Shell Base (brown yarn)

1: 6 sc in MR
2: inc ×6 (12)
3: (sc, inc) ×6 (18)

Fasten off, leave a yarn tail for sewing.


Eye Whites (white yarn)

1: 6 sc in MR
2: inc ×6 (12)
3–4: 12 sc
5: dec ×6

Do not stuff.
Fasten off, leave yarn tail.

Using black thread, embroider a vertical dividing line in the middle of the eye whites.
Do not cut the thread.


Assembly – Shell

  1. Sew the triangular shell edges stitch to stitch. Do not cut yarn.
  2. Stuff the shell with fiberfill.
  3. Sew the shell base to the shell.
    • You may crochet it together by inserting the base inside and crocheting around both pieces with 18 sc.
  4. Attach brown yarn to the shell base, bring it to the right side and wrap it spirally around the shell.
  5. Secure the end of the yarn at the beginning of the spiral and hide it inside.
  6. Sew the shell to the body around the edge.
    Secure the shell at the end with one tightening stitch.
    Continue the yarn to the neck and attach the body to the shell with one stitch.
  7. Sew on the eye whites with one stitch. Hide the yarn ends inside.
  8. Using black thread, embroider eyebrows and mouth. Secure and hide thread ends.
  9. Glue 6 mm half beads onto the eye whites.
  10. Attach the antennae, tie yarn ends together and secure with PVA glue.

  • ch 13, starting from 2nd ch from hook:
    • 12 sc along the chain,
    • 6 sc, inc, 6 sc along the body
      (working into the chain loops) – total 38 sc

19: 38 sc

Fasten off. Stuff the head and neck.


Bottom of the Body (beige yarn)

1: ch 18, from 2nd ch from hook:
16 sc, 3 sc in one stitch,
16 sc, 3 sc in one stitch (38)
2: 38 sc

Fold both body parts with wrong sides facing inward and crochet them together around with 38 sc.
Then crochet 3 sc in each stitch around – repeat 38 times.
Fasten off and secure.


Antennae (beige yarn)

1: ch 7, from 2nd ch from hook:
2 sc in one stitch, 5 sl st

Fasten off, leave yarn tail for sewing.


Shell (brown yarn)

1: ch 2, from 2nd ch from hook: 4 sc in one stitch
Work back and forth in turned rows, crocheting through the back loop only.

2: ch 1, turn, 1 sc, inc, 2 sc
3: ch 1, turn, 5 sc
4: ch 1, turn, 1 sc, inc, 3 sc

Continue crocheting the triangle until you get the following combination:
