Materials Needed:

  • Approximately 30g of solid-colored yarn for the snail’s body.
  • Around 20g of yarn for the house.
  • 2 wooden beads.
  • 2 beads for the eyes.
  • Threads of two different colors for embroidering the mouth and eyebrows.

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • inc – increase (2 sc in one stitch)
  • dec – decrease (crochet 2 sc together)
  • sl st – slip stitch

PATTERN

For the Horns (2 pieces): 

Row 1: Create 2 ch, crochet 6 sc in the second chain from the hook, or 6 sc in a magic ring. 

Row 2: Increase in each stitch around (12 sc). 

Rows 3-4: Crochet 12 sc. 

Row 5: Place a bead inside and decrease 6 times (6 sc). 

Rows 6-9: Crochet 6 sc in each round, at the end, sl st, cut the thread, and secure it. 

Snail’s Head and Body: 

Stuff the head and body as you crochet. 

Row 1: Create 2 ch, crochet 6 sc in the second chain from the hook.

Row 3: 1 sc, inc, repeat 6 times (18 sc).

Row 33: 12 sc, continue crocheting in row 27; it should have a total of 24 sc. If you have more or fewer stitches, don’t worry; you can make 1-2 decreases or increases in the next row to reach 24 sc. 

Row 34: 4 sc, dec, repeat 4 times (20 sc). 

Rows 35-37: Crochet 20 sc in each row. 

Row 38: (dec, 8 sc) twice (18 sc). 

Rows 39-40: Crochet 18 sc in each row. 

Row 41: 4 sc, dec, repeat 3 times (15 sc).

Snail Shell (House): 

Stuff the shell as you crochet.

Row 6: 3 sc, inc twice (10 sc).

Nose:

Thread a piece of yarn through the 6 sc, tighten, fasten off, and sew the nose onto the snail’s face.
