PATTERN – Amigurumi Banana
Body – Amigurumi Banana
White part of the body is crocheted as follows:
1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join in a round (6)
2: inc in each st (12)
3: (1 sc, inc) *6 (18)
4: (2 sc, inc) *6 (24)
Next rounds – work either 24 sc, or alternate 12 sc and 12 dc.
The dc stitches help create a bend in the body.
Without increases, you should have 28 rounds total.
Peel
Yellow part of the banana (peel):
1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join in a round (6)
3–5: 6 sc (this forms the stem).
Next 28 rounds are worked similarly to the white body part, but instead of 24 sts, make more so the peel fits loosely over the body.
For example, work 26 sts.
Crochet 8 rounds of sc (no increases) — this is the distance to the mouth.
Next round: 12 sc, ch 14 (this makes the banana’s lower lip hang down).
Then crochet 3–4 rounds of 26 sc in the round.
In the following round, split the peel at the center of the mouth.
Crochet 26 sc rows back and forth for 4–5 rows.
Then divide the 26 sts in half (13 + 13) and crochet each peel section separately for 20 rows back and forth.
Continue decreasing at the end of each row (skip the second-to-last stitch).
When only 5 sts remain, pull to close.
Assembly:
1: Stuff both the white and yellow parts.
2: Put the peel over the body.
