30: 24 sc, crochet through the back loops. (Here we’ll later crochet the collar of our sweater, if you don’t want a collar, just crochet the row as usual).

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Arms (Make 2)

Start with white yarn.

1: 6 sc in MR (magic ring)

2: (Inc)*6 (12 sc)

3: (1 sc, inc)*6 (18 sc)

Change yarn to brown.

9-10: 8 sc

Stuff the arm, it will be difficult to stuff it later. I don’t stuff the arms myself.

Change yarn to red and continue crocheting without changes for 8 sc every two rows, changing color accordingly to the sweater. Finish with purple.

11-24: 8 sc

Legs (Make 2)

Start with white yarn.

1: 6 sc in MR (magic ring)

2: (Inc)*6 (12 sc)

3: (1 sc, inc)*6 (18 sc)

4: (2 sc, inc)*6 (24 sc)

5-7: 24 sc without increases

8: (2 sc, dec)*6 (18 sc)

9: (1 sc, dec)*6 (12 sc)

10: (4 sc, dec)*2 (10 sc)

Change yarn to brown and crochet without changes for the desired length.

11-30: 10 sc

You can insert wire into the arms/legs if desired!

Ears

Crochet 2 pieces with white yarn.

1: 6 sc in MR (magic ring)

2: (Inc)*6 (12 sc)

3: (1 sc, inc)*6 (18 sc)

Fasten off and cut yarn.

Similarly, crochet 2 pieces with brown yarn, but don’t cut the yarn!

Now place white and brown pieces together, wrong sides facing each other. Insert the hook into the back loop of the brown piece, then pick up loops from both white and brown pieces and crochet sc around, 18 sc in total. Insert the tail of white yarn inside the ear. Fasten off with a slip stitch, leaving a tail for sewing.

Tail

1: 7 sc in MR (magic ring)

2-15: 7 sc

Face

Chain 9. Start crocheting in the second chain from the hook.

1: Work around the chain, 7 sc, 3 sc in the last chain, turn and continue on the other side of the chain: 6 sc, 2 sc in the first chain. (18 sc)

2: Inc, 6 sc, inc, inc, inc, 6 sc, inc, inc (24 sc)

3: 1 sc, inc, 7 sc, inc, 1 sc, inc, 1 sc, inc, 7 sc, inc, 1 sc, inc (30 sc)

4: 2 sc, inc, 8 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 8 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc (36 sc)

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Assembly and Collar

For convenience, first sew the head.

Now insert the hook into the last stitch where we crocheted through the back loops, attach the purple yarn, pick up the yarn, pull it through the loop and make a single crochet.

Now crochet to the end of the row, make 4 increases as you like.

For the second row, crochet regular stitches with one yarn over!

Now all that’s left is to sew on the ears, arms, and legs! Your monkey is ready!
